What is it with the Congress ?

In the ongoing plenary session of the Congress in Hyderabad, Congress workers went berserk demanding Rahul Gandhi's presence on the stage.

The delegates leaved no stone unturned to announce their loyalty to Rahul and 'Madam', referring to Sonia Gandhi:

"Madam, you have the vision of Pandit Nehru, political understanding of Indira Gandhi and dynamism of Rajiv Gandhi. The role of the younger generation cannot be underemphasised" said Vayalar Ravi, trying to be inclusive towards Rahul Gandhi in his heady praise for Sonia.

What it is that makes the Congress incapable of producing a leader from outside the Gandhi family and What is it that they see in Sonia and Rahul that no experienced Congress leader can match?

It seems that the plenary session is another opportunity for the Congress workers to indulge in a blatant and shameless show of sycophancy to the Gandhi family. The current state of the Congress seems a far cry from what it was during the days of independence, when it could actually boast of leaders who had a vision for the country and were aptly able to execute the same.

The clamor for Rahul Gandhi

By robocop on Sun, 2006-01-22 17:36

The clamor for Rahul Gandhi is very similar to the party's demand for Sonia Gandhi to take over its reins about a year back. One fails to understand this yearning for a Gandhian-leadership amongst the Congress, given the fact that Rahul Gandhi has show little leadership skills or has absolutely no qualifications on running the government except being the son of Sonia Gandhi. The same however, went for Sonia Gandhi when the Congress workers bent over backwards to give her the control of the party. Except being the wife of late Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia had little to her name. Moreover she had never shown the understanding and perception on issues of national importance that would be required for a person of holding such a post.

The crisis reflects infact

The crisis reflects infact on a deeper malaise that has taken hold of the Congress - the lack of leadership.
The refusal of the Congress workers to find good and visionary leadership from their own ranks is a deeper indication of the morass that afflicts the nation’s oldest political party. None of the older folks command the respect of the Congress workers, mostly because a Congress worker understands that they are either corrupt or other inept. Natwar Singh had recently proved the same.

The British seems to have left India, but they inculcated the values of slavery amongst the Congress. Their legacy lives on.

This is especially in the Congress and its blind anti-national followers. What can Italian Mafia do to India was effectively displayed in the Q case.

Wow, I never knew Sonia Gandhi was a 'hybrid'!

They are doing this because the family has a lot of love and support from the people and party and it is easier for a family member to attract sympathy, attention, love and ofcourse votes. Getting an outsider to to head the party might not go down well with the public.
