If a millionaire's son with 35 % marks can be a doctor / engineer just because he is having money why not to have doctors / engineers of at least 55 %.
As far as OBC's are concerned many times their merit list is competing with General category merit list. Those who are opposing have not seen the merit list of OBC's.
Creamy layer criteria for OBC's should also be applicable to General category so that EBC's (Economically backward classes) will really be helped. Those above EBC limit will definately be getting education as they are having money.
Again, those who are opposing are driven by media hype only. They are replying to the guided questions of media persons only. I feel they are all supporting reservations for OBC's by heart.

My question to Vinayak "How many millionaires do we have in India?" But we have millions of these OBCs. If these OBCs has such a good intention/determination to reach a good position and why not they themselves try to get through the entrance exams? Where there is a will, there is a way. If they are in merit list, they would certainly get into these institutes. Noone is against OBCs/merit people, we are just against these unnecessary resolutions passed/supported by the Government. And if the Government is so very interested to bring them up with this spoon-feed way, let them establish career counselling centres instead of coming out with this nasty proposals.

This is the most selfish act that is being proposed by the congress government to increase their votebank. I would say every responsible citizen of India SHOULD protest against this. This certainly is not a welcoming proposal for a developing nation like India. This would rather take us back in time instead of heading towards the development of the nation. Just imagine, if this is being implemented these premier institutes would loose their value in the market and it wouldn't be a surpise if recognition of these IITs/IIMs would become as low as ITI(Industrial Training Institutes).

I am very much agreed with this reply. First of all the reason behind to give the seat to millionaire people is for taking the fund for development of the institution as the government is not able to fulfill the requirement. there is also the chances of corruption even if they decide to fund the institution. Further from last so many years the reservation is going on in job in government offices PARTICULARLY AFTER THE FIFTH PAY COMMISSION WITH HANDSOME SALARY. SO the childrens of their can easily make savings to afford the tutuion fees for COACHING CLASSES and get ready for competitive exam. while there are so many upper cast families MAY BE EQUAL TO THE OBC FAMILIES with low income, as the gov have not come out with the details of the numbers of the upper cast with low income group who could not afford the fees even for college, with the parent doing the services in unorganised sector with low pay as the fifth or any pay commission did not apply to them.So i request to all that they should ask gov.to give datails that till now how many jobs granted to obc since independence and tried to support their cast themselves.as after getting the job reservation the same family do not give chance to other obc families. Secondly i request all of you that the gov should come out with details that how many obc families are assessed to tax, having two/ four wheeler vehicle ,mobiles phones with more billing that too WITH THE TOTAL POPULATION of obc (Ratio). I am not against any obc people but they should understand that by simply savings form their family income they can pay for tution fees for coaching class and get ready themselves for compititive exam.As all know that lacs of upper cast families can hardly manage for their foods and livelyhoods and can not afford to pay the fees even for college of higher education. as they could not get any job with gov.(with so many perquisites while on job and after retirements).
So i am very much against the reservation.And if reservation intoduced then it should be restrictive as 1) percentage should initial start with say 5 % and if it results positively then increase gradually. 2)further if one family get the reserve seat then they should not get job reservation and try the job on merits.

You should know that every aspirant of IIT,IIM etc.have to write entrance examination. SC/ST/OBC students also should write and then, they should be qualified to get admission. Reservations are applicable after they are qualified. We are not ready to join with out entrance test.

I want to ask some questions:
In many of the Engineering,Medical and Management Colleges, there are big amount of fees are being taken. Why no body apposes these fee hikes. Does these big amount of fees not deprive the weaker section for getting admitted in such colleges.

Many Public school are taking interviews of the parents before admitting there ward to school. Why the so called upper class not apposes to this act.

In my opinion, it is almost necessary to categorise the schools in A, B and C categories on the basis of their results. Person studied from A class school shall not be allowed for resrvations.

Reservations for the OBCs, SC&ST and Weaker sections are necessary.

Vinayak, Nobody in this country would be against reservation for Economically backward classes provided they are done properly.
But the question here is how to implement this Reservation.
Reserving seats for proffessional courses and Jobs is just not the sollution. Tell me if you are running a bussiness say a SW development center and if the GOVT tells you to employ 22 SC, 25 ST and 15 OBC; Will you do that?

Comming to Creamy layer. Any document in India can be forged. Recently a News channel showed how easy it is to get a SC certificate for a non SC. (Good option for people from Higher cast to get addmision if this Govmt goes ahead)

Mr:Arjun Singh also doesnot care about the same, for him these are just votes. This Govmt also thinks that they can supress the protest by force. Beating Doctors on the streets as if they were criminals, firing water cannyons, tear gas.

If the govmt is serious about this then y dont they build more colleges, schools, the problem can be only solved by educating them.

get this the only way for merit to survive and grow is to provide educational facilities for all at the primary and secondary level. which is not happening. and also understand that at this level there is stil a lot of discrimination but only for SCs, OBC and STs have never been so good. yes certain sections of ST do need financial support for educational access but not reservation. so called OBCs have never had it so good, not that i mind. but i am personally disgusted at such huge sections of society willing to be called backward, perhaps thier greed is stornger than their self respect. and if SCs really think that OBCs have ever considered them equals then who are they kidding. the brahmin has been a favorite whipping boy for al communities for centuries now. primarily for being small in number and historicaly being in favour of non-violence. but does that mean that they can't fight. one should not take a consious renouncement of violent ways as sign of weakness(old saying). further a real brahmin will never accept reservation what ever the (il)logic as for the present government at center, well there never has been a more ethicaly and moraly corrupt set of people in power at the centre.

t is not by putting high reservations for the OBC's will the govt be able to help them..this will only ignite anger and frustration in the hearts of the upper classes as seen nowadays...to really help them we must put up more schools, a better standard of free education for them and ensure that each willing child is able to attend school by bringing the OBC's from 55% to 95$ so they can enter the colleges like IIT and AIIMS on their own skills and intelligence rather than quotas put forward by the govt. The sheduled castes grauduating from such insitutes on the quota basis wont be good and skilled profssionals and rather than progressing forward these graduates will rather move the country backward...there is stil time....it is a plea to the govt...plz rethink over ur actions and think for india's progress and not the votes u will bag or the money u will get by introducing suh bills.

All the girls in my class from reservations were from upper middle class family and they got reservations. These are political price one is required to pay at village lavel, district level, national and international lavel whether you like it or not.

I think you are talking about management quota seats that the management can give to anybody who is qualified for that. There is no question of reservation in that any body an OBC, SC, ST, or a GENERAL category student can get that seat that is not reserved on the basis of a Particular Caste.
Going by your words I want to make you understand that a millionaire can be anybody (SC/ST OBC or GEN).
If you go in detail of the rules to provide a management seat there are certain parameters for allocating the management seats management seat. If two candidates are asking for a management seat and willing to pay the management seat fee (that is normally higher then the normal fee) then the management has to consider there ranks only they can’t refuse to a higher rank student just because the other one is paying more money. It’s not like that there is a provision of paying higher and getting the seat. Management has to give a valid reason why a student is rejected and other is selected. Management seat price are fixed. It is not that management can ask anything. Legally management seat fee is fixed. What happens under the table is not legal.
Talking about the merit list of SC/ST and OBC. Do you home work and try to find the difference in the merit list of GEN category and the SC/ST or OBC. Go to any institute were reservation is implemented you will find a huge difference in merit list.
You are talking about competing merit list let them compete who is stopping them for competing. Why to ask for reservation on the bases of caste?

I accept we need to support backward people, it is must, but it is not a way. Caste based reservation always kill merit people, we are supporting poor people reservation,supporting poor people and giving aid for their further education is helpful to country also.
Giving reservations make people lazy and people don't try for attain goals.

even your dear leaders are going to increase number of seats for OBCs at IIMs and at other places, Did that idiots know who have to pay for this, again to feed this reservation candidates they will increase taxes and other costs. tomorrow again people will say cost of living was increased and we lost out nativity.

Your answer lies in your remark itself. If the OBC merits is competing closely with general merit. Then reservation is not needed.
This whole issue is about whether the Entry to any educaiton should be allowed on the basis of cast at all. We are not against any OBC. But what is needed is real upliftments through scholerships, coachings and fund for creating good schools in backward areas. So that when you are in ICU, No question come sto your mind that person operting me is dcotor through Caste or THrough his Merit.

And now the latest our HRD ministry is trying to achieve - lower the eligibility as well! So go, ask your friends to while away time the whole year long, secure some odd 40% and get into IIMs/IITs. The entire nation will suffer, mind you!

If the bill for reservations in private sector passes, the nation is doomed. India will be nowhere on the global map. Companies will take their business elsewhere. They are here to do business, not charity. They will go to a country that gives them the freedom to choose their employees. You say 'They want ...' I have no idea who demanded it this time around. Congress started it. This is just for votes. They (congress) do not care about any caste. They just care about votes. I totally agree with the view point that this proposal of introducing social-based reservation is going to prove futile, not to congress government , but the developement of the country as a whole. The reason being :
1. The reservation for the higher studies might lessen the burning desire inside the socially backward graduate to excell and to compete with others. It might create a sense of complacency among the socially backward graduates , which may hamper their process of learning.
2. Indian goverment, on the other hand, has to focus more on primary education , for it is where seeds of human are watered to be grown to a plant.If that is not done properly done, no point in having reservations else where.It will churn out only educated animals!

We NRI's are against any Reservations in schools, colleges, and jobs. If the congress government is playing games with the public just for election votes, then we will decide not to support any development in INDIA. This is all NRI's decided here in USA.

This group is arrogant and lacks tolerance.
They are so arrogant that they want discard decisions the government,supreme court,majority population.
Anyone not in line with their mindset is a crook or less merituos.

They have been brought up with a idea since childhood that they are the most intelligent ones on earth.
Many have captured top positions in public institutions with the money and power of their fore-fathers.
They also believe they are entitled to decide on what the majority population requires.

However these people now sense danger with the vast majority challenging their ideas.

They talk of merit. Yet they continue giving huge donations to acquire seats for their sons and daughters.
They flaunt money and create obstacles in way on hardworking deserving students.
Their parents come with loads of money to get admissions for their children who have scored far less than the OBC's.
Then their kids shout slogans on Equality and Merit.

WHO LEADS THE FIGHT FOR MERIT ?

AIIMS students! They themselves are admitted on basis on 33 percent institution quota.
They also gain seats by leaking question papers with modern gadgets like pen scanners.

RESEVATION IS NOT METTER HERE,BECAUSE IT'S ONLY FOR ADDMISSION,NOT GIVING CERTAIN TYPE OF DEGREE.YOU CANT SAY THIS TYPE OF WORD.

Some things need to be clarified. First, if u talk abt IIT exam, Jee is held in hindi as well. So u should admit that there ahd be no reservation for IIT-JEE right. Now for CAT, i understand that CAt is conducted in english and many ppl are not good at english. But we shd be aware that CAT is an exam which produces managers at the end and these managers have to have so much client and customer interaction in their jobs. As a part of globalisation, it is very important for a manager to be respectfully good in english. Else he wud not be able to compete in the competitive world. Let us realise that each kind of profession has its own limitations and to prosper, we need to fulkfill those limitations.

Ok we will change the pattern then will u compete without reservation?

well said my friend... but let me tell u one thing r u trying to justify that all the students pf general category r quiet good in english??? thats wrong my friend. Dhirubhai ambani belonged to a general class. ok he didnt know english. yet he rose as a very successful person? why?? by fighting against all odds. those who deserve will desreve. don supress the desreved ones from reserved ones.
